I learnt that every thing we eat is our diet.
when someone goes on a diet they mean
they are changing food to lose weight.

    Diet can mean some more things as well..

    Someone might go on a diet to put on weight, to train for a sports competition, when they are having a baby, to generally improve health. There are lots of different diets. :)
